How to Select the Best Dentist in Ardmore

Whether you’re new in town or simply unsatisfied with your current dentist, you now find yourself in search of a new dentist in Ardmore. Like most, your first inclination is to take to the internet where you’re inevitably bombarded by thousands of search results. No one has time to go through them all, so how can you make sure you’re choosing the right dentist for you and your family? Every member of our team has been in your shoes at one point or another, so today, we’re happy to offer a little guidance to make the process a little easier.

Here are the 3 most important things you should look at when choosing a new dentist.

man standing at a crossroad1. Read the Doctor’s Bio

This should be featured prominently on a practice’s website, and if it isn’t, you should just move on. The doctor’s bio will let you know how long they have been practicing, where they went to school, and what their overall philosophy is about dental care. A key thing to keep an eye out for is the phrase “continuing education.” These are courses the doctor can take once they are out of school that helps them grow and refine their skillset, so if you see that a dentist logs a large amount of CE hours, then you know they are working hard to provide the highest-quality care possible.

To use our own dentist as an example, Dr. Hughes earned his dental degree in 1966 from the Baylor University Dental School, and after serving in the U.S. Air Force, he opened our practice in Ardmore in 1969. Since then, he has taken literally thousands of hours of continuing education, leading him to become a Pankey Institute Graduate as well as a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry. Despite his decades of experience, he diligently works to stay on top of the latest advancements in dentistry so he can continue to offer our patients up-to-the-minute, world-class care.

2. Look at their Services

The services a practice provides includes everything they can offer you and your family’s smiles. This will let you know if they’re actually able to help you. You certainly wouldn’t want to visit a practice who specializes in children for yourself, nor would you want to take your child to one that only provides dental implants.

Look to see if they offer preventive, restorative, cosmetic, and emergency dentistry. That way, you will know that they have all of your basics covered. If they also offer more specialized services, such as dental implants and TMJ/TMD therapy, all the better, because it means they’ll more likely be able to meet your family’s dental needs as they change over time.

3. See What Makes them Different

Once you have found a dentist you like and have seen that they provide the services you need, now’s the time to find the icing on the cake. Look for what makes a practice stand out from the rest. Hopefully, this will be easy to find on their site, and this will show you what a particular practice offers that you simply won’t get from other places.

Our practice, for example, is unique because we not only provide high-quality dentistry, but we do it in a soothing, spa-like environment. We consistently update our office with the latest dental technology, and all the materials we use are mercury and metal free. Plus, we even have our own on-site dental lab, which allows us to provide our patients with extremely well-made crowns, bridges, and dentures in a fraction of the time needed by other practices.

And, with just these 3 tips, you’ll be able to find the perfect dentist for your family without having to read through hundreds of sites. We hope this guide was helpful, and since you’re already here, we invite you to explore our own site a little more. We’re sure you’ll like what you see!
