Transforming Ardmore Smiles with Porcelain Veneers
If you’re dealing with a smile that’s covered in minor chips, stains, and discoloration, or teeth that are misaligned, crooked, or unevenly spaced, you are not alone. We treat numerous patients every day who are unhappy with one or more aspects of their smiles, and while they’d like to achieve a straighter, brighter smile, patients think the only way to correct these flaws is to undergo multiple or extensive restorative, cosmetic, or orthodontic treatments. However, Robert V. Hughes, DDS and his dedicated dental team may be able to completely transform your smile with one minimally invasive treatment option – porcelain veneers. These custom veneers affix to the front facing surfaces of teeth correcting and concealing dental damage instantly.
Porcelain Veneers are the Top Cosmetic Solution
Porcelain veneers are a wonderful smile solution that can dramatically transform even severely flawed teeth into picture-prefect smiles with one, minimally invasive treatment option. They're quickly becoming one of the top options in cosmetic dentistry, and it’s no secret why. Minimally invasive and breathtakingly beautiful, they’re sort of like a quick smile do-over -- nothing transforms teeth quite like porcelain veneers.
The following smile imperfections can be improved with veneers from your Ardmore dentist.
- Chipped or cracked teeth
- Slightly gapped, crooked or misaligned teeth
- Oddly shaped teeth, like “fangs” or those that appear to be too short
- Discolored or stained teeth that have not responded to teeth whitening
Patients who have smile imperfections, are interested in revealing a more beautiful smile and who enjoy good oral and overall health are typically excellent candidates for porcelain veneers. Those with severe cases of gum disease or tooth infection will need to have these issues corrected before beginning with porcelain veneers.
Procedure for Porcelain Veneers
In most cases, patients should plan to visit our office two times to complete the porcelain veneers process. During the initial appointment, we’ll remove a small amount of surface enamel from teeth, capture bite impressions, and place a temporary veneer. The impressions and Dr. Hughes’ design are used by our on-site dental lab to craft a custom veneer. Once the final product is completed, patients return to exchange their temporary for a permanent porcelain veneer.
When discussing your goals and desires with Dr. Hughes, it can help to bring in photos of what you do and don’t like. After all, cosmetic dentistry doesn’t have to mean a super-bright, dazzling smile. Whatever your smile goals, Dr. Hughes can help you achieve what you desire with customizable porcelain veneers.
Caring for Porcelain Veneers
Once you’ve received your veneers, you’ll be happy to know caring for them isn’t all that different from caring for your natural teeth. Brush your teeth using a non-abrasive paste for two minutes, twice a day, floss daily and continue to visit your dentist as recommended for the best results. Athletes and nighttime teeth grinders should invest in protective mouthguards to prevent excessive force and impact from harming their veneers.
